Galabovo Photovoltaic Plant

Galabovo Photovoltaic Power Plant is located in the municipality of Galabovo, a key energy region in Bulgaria with a long-standing tradition in electricity generation. The project reflects the transition towards a low-carbon energy system and the growing role of renewable energy in the country.

The plant has an installed capacity of 201 MW and spans across the areas of Obruchiste, Mednikarovo and Musachevo. It generates clean electricity sufficient to meet the annual demand of approximately 82 500 households.

A total of 351 351 next-generation monocrystalline panels have been installed, including bifacial panels that enhance energy production efficiency. Some of the panels are mounted on fixed structures, while others use single-axis tracking systems to follow the sun and optimize generation. Long-term performance is ensured through anti-PID technology and resistance to high wind and snow loads.

The plant is equipped with high-efficiency inverters designed for large-scale solar power generation, delivering high efficiency and reliable operation with minimal noise impact.

An integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) enhances operational flexibility, improves forecasting and generation management, and enables efficient participation in energy markets, including under grid constraints.

The project avoids approximately 413 000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing to decarbonization and environmental sustainability.
