Karlovo Photovoltaic Plant is located in the municipality of Karlovo, in the central part of Bulgaria and the northern part of the Plovdiv region. The installations spread over an area of two settlements – Dabene and Vasil Levski. Situated in a sunlit and advantageous geographical location, the municipality of Karlovo provides ideal conditions for a solar energy project development which will not only contributes to diversify the energy mix but will also leave a positive impact on the local economy and ecology in the region.
The Karlovo Photovoltaic Plant generates sufficient energy to meet the annual requirements of 44,000 households. A total of 186,108 bifacial solar panels are set up in the solar fields, enabling the capture of sunlight on both sides and leading to a substantial boost in electricity production compared to conventional panels. Considering the features of the terrains, 88% of these panels are positioned on sun-tracking units.
The Karlovo Photovoltaic Plant is the largest renewable energy project in the municipality of Karlovo. The SUNTERRA team acknowledges its significance, considering that the facility will save over 217,000 metric tons of harmful emissions annually and contribute to environmental preservation.
